Whitgift is situated in a beautiful and historic park. A Whitgift education is unique and exceptionally tailor-made, offering a variety of pathways to qualifications, including A Level, Pre U, the IB and BTEC, with a bilingual section for native French or Spanish speakers. Exceptional pastoral care is at the foundation of our provision, and each pupil, and his parents, are guaranteed a friendly face to turn to for advice and guidance.

Whitgift’s sport is at the forefront of achievement, with over 120 national titles won in the past five years. More than 40 sports are available, including modern pentathlon, golf, judo and cycling. Many boys represent their country in a wide variety of sports, or go on to pursue a career at the highest level.

An exciting Performing Arts programme is offered by the School, with first-class musicals and plays performed regularly. Orchestras and choirs tour internationally, and play at major venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. The School enjoys close links with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, enabling pupils to learn side-by-side with professional musicians.

Co-curricular activities feature more than 80 clubs, an Outdoor Education programme that travels worldwide, and a well-established Combined Cadet Force.

The School’s Boarding House, opened in 2013, is superbly-equipped and offers full, weekly and flexi-boarding to boys aged 13-18. Boarders have cutting-edge IT equipment, private study areas, en-suite bathrooms, and spacious, communal social areas with kitchen facilities.

This Summer School, with its innovative syllabus and focus on the use of English in Action, is designed to appeal to girls and boys from all over the world. In our English language course, students in the Lower School (11 – 14 years) and the Upper School (14-17 years) learn in small groups, and, through immersion, develop confidence and fluency in their English language skills.

To ensure communication continues in English, careful consideration is given to the balance of participating nationalities. Pupils of Whitgift School, and our sister school, Old Palace of John Whitgift, who are English native speakers, also assist within English lessons, co-curricular and social programmes. These students, known as Student Hosts, play an integral role and give a real purpose to the use of English.

Whitgift´s superb facilities are utilised for an exciting and varied sports and creative activities programme, in which students can deploy their newly-learned English skills. Through team and group work, pupils develop social skills, and are encouraged to continue learning in a dynamic and exciting way.

Our passionate, caring and enthusiastic staff focus on creating an inclusive and safe environment, thus generating a home-from-home setting, in which students can thrive, and, most importantly, have fun. Teachers, activity leaders and houseparents all encourage interaction with other students, and ensure integration in order to help them become part of the Whitgift Summer School family. In each department – academic, activities and welfare – there is a core of year-round Whitgift School staff who help ensure that the extremely high standards of Whitgift School are maintained during the summer.

Whitgift’s unique and very desirable location, on London’s ‘doorstep’, provides easy access to some of the world’s most important tourist sights. Linking these trips to our syllabus promotes a significant understanding of British history and culture; the learning generated through these excursions is one of Whitgift Summer School’s defining features.

Our main aim is that a stay at Whitgift Summer School will provide an unforgettable and enjoyable educational experience for every individual.
