Founded in 1994, Abbey College Cambridge has established itself as one of the best independent sixth form colleges in the United Kingdom. Students have a track record of outstanding academic and personal achievement, and many move on to join the UK’s best universities every year.

The college offers students A-Level, International Foundation, GCSE and Summer courses. It teaches more than 370 students from 34 countries around the world. College tutors are experts in teaching and supporting students who do not speak English as their first language.

Teaching focuses on examination success, achieved through the acquisition of knowledge, examination technique and thinking skills. Every aspect of the college’s teaching has been rated as ‘Outstanding’, the highest level awarded, by the UK Governments’ Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted).

Students achieve exceptional success in their examinations. In each one of the last 10 years the percentage of A level grades in the A*-B range has been more than 80%. In 2016 61% of all A-Levels awarded to Abbey College Cambridge students were at A*-A grade.

Students move on to some of world’s best universities. In 2016 one quarter of graduates joined one of the traditional ‘top 5’ UK universities (Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and University College London), and 62% of graduates joined a member of the ‘Russell Group’ of elite universities.

All students are allocated a personal tutor to guide them through college life. They also have a university advisor, who helps them choose and apply for the perfect university course for them. Through our unique Pre-Degree Diploma programme we offer weekly timetabled preparation session for students wishing to apply for Oxbridge, or courses such as Medicine, Law, Economics, Business and leadership, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics.

With over 60 college clubs and societies to take part in, and regular college trips to the UK and Europe, Abbey College Cambridge students experience a rewarding and exciting life outside of classes. They also develop vital skills and experiences to support their university application.

College boarding accommodation has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ in every aspect by Ofsted. Depending on their age, students have the option to choose between on and off-campus boarding, lodging with host families and halls of residence. College accommodation is fully-equipped and secure, with house parents living with students.

The college’s central Cambridge campus has been designed by college staff and purpose-built to perfectly fit the needs of students. It includes 120 full board ensuite student bedrooms, 42 classrooms, 12 science laboratories, 2 libraries, dedicated music studios and new art facility.
